BR0DE0's Laroken Dex
Welcome to the Laroken Region, a world filled with many different climates and monsters to collect.

This fakedex has recieved a completely new template made by myself.
You can not use it. Even if you give credit.

What's New In This Update?

There isn't much new content in this update, but there are many changes.
I have deleted all fakemon that were either too much fusing, or I felt didn't hold up to my standards. There is quite a few of those, so I apologize for any favorites that were deleted.
There are quite a few new names.
The only new fakemon that hasn't been posted on my deviantART before is Merchappa #054

How do you like the new template?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

All Fakemon in the second to last row are evolutions to real Pokemon
#136 Orphone is the evolved form of Marowak.
#137 Zeppeblimp is the evolved form of Drifblim.
#138 Belectric is the evolved form of Manectric.
#139 Vainquist is the evolved form of Banette.
#140 Beagaso is the evolved form of Smeargle.

I can realy see where you were going with this idea so vision is perfect.

I'd have to say the originality of some of these Pokemon are down right neat, but then there are ones where they look too similar to their conterparts that you piced together. Still I enjoyed seeing the ones that looked very original in design and concept.

I gotta face facts here, this was done amazingly well for this kind of thing. better than i usualy have seen.

If the finished products of soe of these Pokemon looked a little less like the Pokemon used to create them, and i know that is difficult to say since these are fakemon, theni could give this a perfect score. as is though, This proves that Nintendo can get their act together and make some REAl original designs, if a fan has done an almost better job with already created Pokemon.

Good Job!

(This critique is based off of the edition of this Fakemon Pokedex as of 12/8/12. It may have changed since then, or not at all. Please keep this in mind when rating this critique.)

Not sure what the "Vision" section is all about so I'll just skip that and be on my merry way.

Originality: Fakemon and Pokedexes have been done before (duh), so that doesn't make this the most original thing in the universe. What I really focused on was the concepts of some of these Fakemon, and some were very creative. However, others were sort of mediocre, and one would expect a bit more from Pokemon. Not saying you should change them or go out of your way to find far-fetched concepts, though, but try doing things that aren't obvious combinations or things that Pokemon has done before in the future. Some of the names also bug me because of how obvious they are coupled with how "forced" the name sounds. However, you managed to pull off a lot of the Fakemon very nicely- the ones based off of hot air balloons, kappas, plague doctors, wilting flowers, and drama masks caught my eye.

Technique: Eh, I'm a sucker for pixel art, so I think that this is magnificent just for that, but I'll just note here that some of the shading seemed a bit off. You got the shade-y part of the shading right, but the bright parts were somewhat overdone in Trapine and Glacone. I know it was only two examples, but those really stuck out to me. I understand that the bright coloration was intentional, but it looks sort of like an overdose of reflective sunlight maxima more than naturally bright colors. Also, Orphone's head looks a bit... er, blocky? If that's intentional, that's fine, but I might want to round that off a bit if possible. But anyway, everything else was masterful and it makes me wonder why you aren't working for an official game company yet.

Impact: Put quite simply, this is one of the best sprited Fakedexes (Is that a word?) I've seen. Wonderful job! This is definitely going to stick with me. Can't wait to see how it looks like when it's done!

Thank you. Ironically those are two that I'm redesigning in my new update. :c
The only drastic change on them is a color change.

I saw your journal about updating your pokemon designs. With the designs I've been working with, I've noticed when looking through the Pokemon in existence and the good Fakemon around on deviantART, extreme color change is important. Just look at Oshawott-Dewott-Samurott. It's not "Extreme" but it still is extreme enough where the evolution seems fluid. That being said, the color change should only be done for certain pokemon. In comparison to Oshawott's evolution, Snivy's evolution line barely changes color at all. It's up to you decide where the color change is put.

That's what I've noticed too.
You can see me experimenting with this in Vapole and Thermoad.
It goes from yellow to red. I felt that these two turned out great because of the color change.
